UNIVERSITY CELEBRATES SINULOG FIESTA 2023; BED STUDENTS GATHER FOR BISPERAS MAYORES
January 20, 2023
La Consolacion University Philippines materialized its annual tradition of celebrating the Feast of Santo Niño by organizing Sinulog Fiesta 2023 on January 20, 2023, at the LCUP Main Campus, City of Malolos, Bulacan.
The first part of the program featured a talk on "Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults" given by the University Chaplain Fr. Cornelio Jaranilla, OCD, as the Resource Speaker. The feast day also became an opportunity to conduct the monthly Personnel Spiritual Integration Day (PSID) Bukluran. The LCUP Community gathered in the Kalinangan Auditorium and clustered according to their respective buklods. The Bible Enthronement Rites was initiated by selected personnel while the assigned group leaders facilitated the bible sharing.
The major highlight of the activity is the Sinulog Procession. LCUP personnel, dancers, religious community, and sacristans assembled in Mother Andrada Court. The procession approached the front area of the BarCIE International Center to meet the Sinulog Queen, portrayed by Ms. Emerlyn Lingues from BED-SHS. The Sinulog Queen, carrying the image of Santo Niño and selected personnel bearing the main Santo Niño image, danced together with the LCUP Community throughout the procession. A Eucharistic Celebration presided by Rev. Fr. Ruel Arcega followed the procession. The mass ended with an Indakan or Grand Sinulog Dance wherein Fr. Arcega passed on a Santo Niño image to the Sinulog Queen.
Prior to the said festivity, students from the Basic Education Department (BED) were able to physically join the celebration after three years during the Bisperas Mayores that happened on January 19, 2023. Students from Nursery to Grade 10, carrying Sto. Niño images and wearing their festive headdress and costumes gathered for a Sinulog Parade. After the parade, students were given treats for being one with Child Jesus in celebrating the feast day.
