LCUP WELCOMES AY 2018-2019 WITH NEW UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT

La Consolacion University Philippines welcomes the AY 2018 - 2019 with a new leader in the person of Sr. Editha Zerna, OSA, Ph.D.

Sr. Edith, as she is fondly called, is the fourth among the ten children of Eladio Zerna and Felicisima Silva, residents of Tanjay, Negros Oriental. She finished her baccalaureate degree in Education at La Consolacon College Mendiola and earned her Master’s degree in English Literature at Centro Escolar University in Manila.

Her unparalleled lea- dership skills is due to her Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Development and Planning degree, which she earned at the Southeast Asia Interdisiplinary Development Institute in Antipolo Rizal.

Sr. Edith became the third University President back in 2010 when LCUP was still named University of Regina Carmeli (URC). During her stint as President, the University has improved its infrastructure and gained significant advancements in the areas of instruction, research, and community extension.

Sr. Edith’s dynamic leadership has been crucial in the creation of an excellent learning environment for the university. Her exceptional management skills have likewise helped improve the state of a number of ASOLC institutions which she previously headed.

This year, she is returning as University President to take over the man agement of the institution and to steer the University towards a new direction. Sr. Edith also has a sterling record of awards to her merit which includes an Innovative and Creative Leadership award in 1995, an Outstanding Alumna award in 2006 and a Golden Leadership award bestowed upon her by the United Group of Charities and Human Development, Inc. in 2002, among others.

And now as the new University President, Sr. Edith’s plan for LCUP includes making good use of the university resources via proper management of both finances and expenditures; sustaining the university’s autonomous status and international certification; upgrading existing accreditation levels and submitting more programs for accreditation; partnering with local and international institutions; and placing the University in the center of the global arena through the conduct of another series of international research conferences.

With these plans in the pipeline and with an experienced and visionary leader handling the reigns, LCUP is sure to soar to even greater heights in the years ahead
