SHS STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN EDUCATIONAL MUSEUM TOUR

The SHS Library headed by Chief Librarian Dr. Maria Mercedez M. Haz, conducted a Library Museum Tour for the entire Senior High School Department with the assistance of Ms. Rizza Gonzales, Mr. Ericson Balin, Mr. Mannex Agulto, and BSED 4-Social Studies teacher Mrs. Roselle M. Pascual. About 5,912 students visited the Barasoain Church Historical Mark, now named as the Museo ng Republika ng 1899, which is composed of the church and the adjoining convent. The original church burned down in 1884 and was rebuilt the following year by Fr. Juan Giron, OSA, an Augustinian priest. The Museum has five (5) galleries that feature numerous murals, artifacts, documents, pictures, and e-historical software of the events which occurred during the Spanish and American war, as well as the establishment of the Malolos Congress and the drafting of the Philippine Constitution. The students were amazed and thrilled to experience the Lights and Sounds presentation about the first Philippine Constitution which is celebrated every January 23 as the Fiesta Republica in the City of Malolos. The trip would not have been possible without the approval and support of the LCUP administration, and the cooperation of the staff of the Museo ng Republika ng 1899.
