The La Consolacion University Philippines (LCUP) officially opened its newly re-constructed Our Lady of Consolation Chapel to the LCUP Community as it conducts the Rite of Blessing and Dedication of the Altar, May 31, 2021 at the LCUP Main Campus, City of Malolos Bulacan.

The chapel, which took more than a year to reconstruct, expanded from roughly 800 square meters to more than 1,500 square meters and was re-designed to accommodate a maximum number of 1,500 people – more than it can accommodate before. Major improvements were done such as the consecration of the altar, reservation of the Holy Eucharist, installation of sound system and flatscreen televisions. The ceremony was witnessed and graced by the LCUP Community and personalities from the local government and holy church. The event started with an introduction addressed by the Basic Education Department Principal Sr. Angelita Baraero, OSA followed by the Unveiling of the Marker conducted by the University Chaplain Rev. Fr. Cornelio Jaranilla, Jr. OCD and Alumni Association President Dr. Jaime Pulumbarit.

Afterwards, the ribbon cutting took place which was initiated by the University President Sr. Editha Zerna, OSA, PhD, Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation Superior General Rev. Sr. Niceta Vargas, OSA, Hon. Governor of Bulacan Daniel Fernando, Hon. Vice Governor of Bulacan Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, Hon. Mayor of the City of Malolos Engr. Gilbert Gatchalian, VP for Religious, Spiritual Formation, and Extension Sr. Mary Sheba Principe OSA, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Divina Ann Eusebio, VP for Graduate Studies Dr. Enrico Rosales, and VP for Research, Publications, and Linkages Dr. Ma. Evangeline Paraan.

The Eucharistic Celebration and Rite of Blessing was conducted by the Bishop of Malolos Most Rev. Dennis Villarojo, DD, concelebrated by Parish Priests Rev. Fr. Francis Carson, Rev. Msgr. Andres Valero, and University Chaplain Fr. Jaranilla Jr., OCD.

When the ceremony was concluded, guests gathered at the LCUP Activity Center for a dinner buffet. According to Fr. Jaranilla, the plans to further develop and improve the University chapel is still on the move. Hide
