LCUP commemorates the Month of the Most Holy Rosary through Recorrida de la Virgen and Rites of Pakupkop
October 26, 2023
As the university concludes the celebration of the Month of the Most Holy Rosary, the visitation of the image of Nuestra Señora del Santisimo Rosario de Hagonoy took place in LCUP Main Campus on October 26, 2023, giving way to the Recorrida de la Virgen and conduct of Rites of Pakupkop.
The Culminating Activity started with the Enthronement of the image of Nuestra Señora del Santisimo Rosario de Hagonoy and the Eucharistic Celebration at the Our Lady of Consolation Chapel. The image graced the entrance processional along the altar servers and celebrants and was enthroned prior to the Holy Mass.
A procession succeeded the Holy Mass wherein the LCUP Community walked with the image of Nuestra Señora del Santisimo Rosario de Hagonoy in the campus streets. While the Rosary Walk occurs, assigned prayer leaders led the rosary simultaneously. Framed images of the 20 mysteries of the Holy Rosary or Estandarte were featured during the procession.
The Rosary Walk concluded at the Mother Consuelo Barcelo Open Stage Area, where all the participants settled into their seats as the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary was recited. Afterwards, the Rites of Pakupkop, one of the ceremony's highlights, occurred. The LCUP Community was nestled under a blue veil attached to the image of the Nuestra Señora del Santisimo Rosario de Hagonoy covering the people present in the entire open field. The Rites of Pakupkop symbolized the community’s seeking for comfort and protection from the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The ceremony ended with a closing song, "Salamat, Maria," bidding praise and gratitude for the eternal love of the Blessed Virgin Mary to humanity.
