The La Consolacion University Philippines Doctor of Medicine program is meticulously designed to cultivate compassionate physicians who are not only clinically competent but also deeply committed to providing holistic and patient-centered care, directly addressing the critical need for medical practitioners who embody the Augustinian values in their practice.

This program aims to graduate physicians who can seamlessly integrate clinical expertise with profound empathy, thereby enhancing patient outcomes through improved treatment adherence, reduced medical errors, and positive patient experiences. Graduates will apply a comprehensive understanding of basic, clinical, and population-based sciences, performing patient-centered clinical skills with technical proficiency and genuine compassion. They will master effective communication skills, fostering a supportive environment that reduces physician burnout and promotes well-being. Upholding the highest ethical standards and professionalism, graduates will reflect the Augustinian values of Caritas, Veritas, and Communitas, contributing to the formation of morally upright and socially responsible physicians.

The program emphasizes the utilization of information technology and evidence-based medicine, integrated with compassionate care to optimize patient outcomes. Graduates will commit to life-long learning and scholarship, driving innovation in medical education and integrating compassion into curriculum development. They will actively participate in health systems and public health, advocating for the marginalized and promoting the Augustinian charism of service. Demonstrating leadership and management skills, graduates will foster a compassionate medical culture that enhances job satisfaction and well- being. They will also engage in research, particularly exploring the impact of compassion on patient outcomes and physician well-being, strengthening the evidence base for compassionate care. Finally, graduates will excel in interprofessional collaboration, reinforcing a supportive team environment that optimizes patient care and reduces stress.

Beyond these essential competencies, the program uniquely incorporates an 11th program outcome: to practice Augustinian teachings and core values. This distinct outcome ensures that graduates not only possess clinical excellence but also embody the Augustinian ideals of Caritas, Veritas, and Communitas in their daily medical practice. It deepens their commitment to service, especially towards the poor and marginalized, and transforms them into physicians who lead with both skill and profound compassion.

By achieving these outcomes, the program strengthens the Augustinian mission, contributing to a more compassionate and effective healthcare system.
