UNIVERSITY CELEBRATES WORLD WATER DAY THROUGH ITS C.L.E.A.N. EARTH PROJECT

In line with its C.L.E.A.N. EARTH (Care for the Lives in the Environment And restore, coNserve resources of the EARTH) project, the University, through the initiatives of the Mother Rita Barcelo Outreach Program (MRBOP) Unit, joined in the celebration of the World Water Day, March 22, 2022, at the La Consolacion University Philippines – Catmon Campus.

The activity started with a Eucharistic celebration presided by Fr. Howard John Tarrayo, followed by the blessing of fingerlings, soil, and plants. The donations received were able to purchase 5,500 medium-sized Tilapia fingerlings; moreover, the Basic Education Department provided bags of soil and plants for the tree-planting activity.
After the blessing, the LCUP community proceed to the Agustino Farm to witness the dropping of Tilapia fingerlings. School administrators and LCUP sisters hopped in a huge raft and drifted through the Agustino fish pond to drop the fingerlings. These fingerlings will be in the care of the UBMS Office until the time comes when it is ready to be harvested. The beneficiaries of this project are the UBMS Maintenance personnel. A simple snack was distributed afterward. A Tree-Planting activity led by the Basic Education Department followed wherein fruit-bearing trees were planted by the BED teachers in different areas inside the University.
The C.L.E.A.N. Earth Project is the MRBOP's 10-year project under one of its flagship programs Luntiang Agustino which aims to promote and spread awareness of the importance of taking good care of the environment, our common home. Hide
