University lights up blue for Mental Health Day
October 10, 2023
In support of World Mental Health Day, LCUP, in collaboration with the Philippine Mental Health Association Inc. (PHMAI), lit the campus in blue on October 10, 2023, at the LCUP Main Campus.
The said activity was initiated by the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASE) alongside the LCUP Psychology Society in support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Federation for Mental Health's (WFMH) theme, “Mental health is a Universal Right.”
Aside from lighting up the campus blue, CASE students, faculty, and administrators were also encouraged to wear blue to strengthen the expression of support for the said campaign. At exactly six o'clock in the evening, the community gathered at the St. Augustine Building to switch the lights on and held hands as the beams of light shone across the campus.
The color blue symbolizes serenity, peace, and calmness; thus, the "Light Up Blue for Mental Health" Campaign promotes mental health awareness and wellness and aims to provide a beacon of hope to people worldwide in times of mental health crisis.
LCUP is just one of the many institutions and organizations in the country that joined PHMAI in lighting up blue to commemorate World Mental Health Day.
