International Students Set For The New Academic Year After a Successful Orientation Program

On August 7, 2024, La Consolacion University Philippines (LCUP) conducted an informative orientation program for new international students at Bayabas Hall in the Barasoain Center for Innovative Education (BarCIE) International Center, organized by the External Affairs and Internationalization (EAIZN) Office.
The program, led by Marian Jeanne Rivera-Pacheco, Linkages Officer, began with an opening prayer, followed by the singing of the national anthems of the Philippines and China, reflecting the multicultural spirit of the gathering. Dr. Enrico F. Rosales, Vice President for EAIZN, delivered an inspiring message, emphasizing that the student’s journey is not solely about academic achievement but also personal growth and the development of global citizenship.

“We understand that coming to a new country and starting a new chapter in your academic journey can be both exciting and challenging. At LCUP, we are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all students, regardless of their backgrounds. We believe in the power of diversity and the importance of nurturing a global perspective,” Dr. Rosales stated. “We are excited to embark on this academic journey with you, and we hope your time here will be filled with enriching experiences, both inside and outside the classroom.”
The EAIZN together with their On-the-Job Trainee, Lonalyn Arce, presented a short video with the participation of the foreign students and provided a comprehensive overview of LCUP, including its mission, vision, core values, foreign students’ admission requirements, background of EAIZN and the status of the student-visa information ensured that all the attendees were well-informed to guarantee a smooth transition into the university.
To facilitate understanding and participation, translations were provided by Joy Mao, Vice President of Beijing PhiHua International Education Technology Co., Ltd., a partner institution for student exchange programs.
The program concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing students to address any concerns they might have. Attendees enjoyed snacks prepared by the students and staff, and the event wrapped up with a group photo, marking the beginning of what promises to be a transformative academic journey.
