LCUP Marks 87 Years of Innovation and Impact

With the theme “Igniting the Augustinian Spirit of Community: A Celebration of Innovation and Impact, La Consolacion University Philippines (LCUP) solemnly celebrated its 87th year founding anniversary last December 4, 2024 at Kalinangan Auditorium.

Sister Niceta M. Vargas, OSA, PhD, the university president, delivered her opening speech, reminiscing about LCUP’s humble beginnings and its growth into the premier educational institution that it is today.

The highlight of the program was the testimonial speeches of Dr. Divina Ann M. Eusebio, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Mark Rey Santos, Vice President for Research and Innovation; Dr. Enrico F. Rosales, Executive Secretary of the President for External Affairs and Internationalization. Representing the faculty and and non-teaching personnel, Professor Elizabeth Medina, and Mr. John Nicco Jimenez,, Dr. Agnes Sumodlayon also shared their insights and experiences.

The celebration also recognized board passers from various department in recently concluded licensure exams. Dr. Eusebio, together with Sister Nicet and respective college deans, awarded the passers with tokens of appreciation.

Adding energy and excitement to the occasion, LCUP administrators hyped-up the auditorium with a lively dance number to the beats of 70s and 80s songs.

Sister Eden Gicana, Superior General of Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolacion graced the event to give an inspirational message and looked back to the challenges and achievements that LCUP received before coming to its 87th year.

"We are reminded of how far LCUP has come. This institution is more than a university — it is a community. It is a community that embodies the values of faith, hope, and charity. Our students are also inspired to become functional leaders, responsible citizens or individuals, who are grounded in integrity and committed to making a positive impact on the world. We take pride in the legacy of La Consolacion University Philippines," Sr. Eden stated.

Governor Daniel Fernando also attended the celebration to congratulate the institution for celebrating its 87th year anniversary as a pillar of quality education not only in Malolos but in Bulacan.

The program concluded with the launch of LCUP’s 2024 Christmas ID, which was warmly received by the community, followed by a celebratory lunch at the BarCIE International Center.

LCUP also conducted various student activities and competitions to celebrate the 87th Foundation Anniversary.
